The marriage contracts must be registered at the registry office where the marriage is registered. If, apart from the marriage contracts, you wish to liquidate the previous matrimonial property regime, it is advisable to register this liquidation in the Land Registry where the assets are located.

You will need to provide the following documentation for this process

A) Prior to the marriage:

  • Identity card of the parties, date and place of the marriage.

B) After the marriage:

  • ID card of the spouses and family record book.

  • If there are liquidations of community property, the property titles, cadastral references (last receipt of the IBl), balances of bank accounts or vehicle registration card, the value assigned to each one and the form of adjudication to each spouse.

  • If there are any outstanding loans, the amount outstanding and who is going to take care of it,
