Since the end of July 2015, you can celebrate your marriage before a notary, but until 30 June 2017, however, it will not be possible to process the marriage certificate before the celebration of the marriage, so until that date you will have to continue to process it at the Civil Registry Office.
All you have to do is indicate the notary you have chosen at the registry office and they will forward your file to you,
You can choose whichever notary you wish to have your marriage celebrated.
The advantage of getting married before a notary is that you can shorten the date of the wedding to suit the wishes of the spouses, and the same applies to the time of the wedding.
The law requires the spouses to sign a public deed in the presence of two witnesses, after the Notary has read articles 66, 67 and 68 of the Civil Code, and after stating that they wish to get married, he or she will declare them to be united in marriage, and will proceed to the signing.
Once their marriage has been celebrated, and as there is still no option for the Notary to send the copies electronically, the copies must be physically presented to the Civil Registry by the parties or someone on their behalf, in the same way as is done in the case of religious marriages.
The notarial fee for the cost of the celebration of the marriage is pending approval but is set at 95 € plus the corresponding VAT, although to date it is a public deed, which has no amount, with a base of 30.050605 €. with no more than four pages (provided that the office of the Civil Registry is one page) and from which three authorised copies are taken, so the cost could be even lower.
